Travel guide: Bohol – Tagbilaran (Philippines)
Capital city of Bohol is Tagbilaran, to where you’ll probably arrive from Cebu, Negros or other islands. You can even get here from Manila! The city is nothing special by itself as beautiful but touristic Alona beach is only a short ride away. You can leave the luggage in the hotel in Tagbilaran and go for a short roadtrip around Bohol and visit Chocolate hills, tarsiers and local beaches. Here’s a short Bohol travel guide.
How to get to Tagbilaran?
From Tagbilaran’s port there are of course hoards of taxis that want to take you to Alona beach for too much money. Just walk past them to the road and cross it. There are tuk-tuks which will take you to the hotel in Tagbilaran or to the jeepney station (both 10 PHP/person) which will also take you to Alona beach for 25 PHP.
Where to find a hotel in Tagbilaran ?
We found probably the cheapest not-the-best-looking hotel in Tagbilaran for 350 PHP per night at Hat’s Inn or old grandma’s house.
Where to eat in Tagbilaran?
There are some restaurants very close to Hat’s Inn with very cheap prices and mostly meat dishes for around 50 PHP. There’s more in town, fast food also.
You can easily rent a motorbike in the port for 350 PHP and go around the island. Read more about roadtripping on Bohol here.
