Travel guide: Kanawa, Komodo (Indonesia)
Kanawa is a small island, part of Komodo national park and it’s probably the most beutiful piece of paradise we’ve seen. pastel purple sunsets, amazing corals, thousands of coral reef fish, baby sharks in the shallow water and every couple of full moons baby turtles hatch.
How to get to Kanawa?
You can get there by booking a free boat in Labuan Bajo from their office.
Where to find a hotel in Kanawa?
Island is privately owned and when we were there Kanawa beach bunglows were quite affordable. We slept in a tent for 13 eur but we hear there is no tents or bale-bales (which were some form of open space rooms, only very expensive bungalows. Now, this has become a resort for rich people 🙁
Where to eat in Kanawa?
There is one quite expensive restaurants but the food tastes good. We presume that a daily budget for accomodatin and food comes up to 100 $ for a couple at least.
What to do in Kanawa?
There is a diving school on this island which is sometimes active and sometimes not. They can arrange a boat tour to Komodo and Rinca island with snorkeling stops on the way. but snorkeling is anyway better just of shore.
We are happy that we could experience this piece of paradise and if you have any finances to splurge, it will be worth it 😉
